What Is Republic Airways?
Republic Airways Holdings' constituents are some of the biggest airlines in the US. Through its main operating subsidiary, Chautauqua Airlines, the company provides connecting flights for American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, US Airways, and United Airlines. It operates a fleet of nearly 85 Embraer regional jets and serves 65 cities in the US and Canada. Its Chautauqua Airlines unit has disposed of its turboprop fleet and has 16 regional jets on order which will operate as United Express. Republic Airways began operations in 1998 when it purchased Chautauqua. America West ceased its partnership with Chautauqua in 2003 to save on costs. Investment firm Wexford Capital owns 61% of Republic Airways Holdings.
