What Is Regional Government Services Authority?

Regional Government Services Authority (RGS) was formed in 2001 to help local governments meet three challenges: decreasing revenues, increasing demands (and costs) for services, and loss of experienced staff. Local government leaders knew these challenges were likely to continue, so agencies would have to work together – uniting not only their voices but their resources to advocate and become more efficient. The idea was to form an agency which would help local governments share expertise and improve efficiencies, to get the expertise and experience needed, without each agency having to hire full-time staff when the need might be less than full-time. \n\nToday, RGS is governed by several member agencies, all with the common goal expressed in the JPA’s mission statement: To provide quality, innovative, cost-effective services exclusively to public agencies.\n\nHOW RGS CAN SERVE YOUR AGENCY\nWe work exclusively with public agencies, providing a ready source of experienced personnel for project management and consulting services to our partner agencies in a broad range of service areas. \n\nRGS offers expertise in human resources, communications, planning, finance, payroll administration and employee benefits administration as well as project management and support services at all levels. We also offer a complete suite of training services for employees and management teams including team building retreats and strategic planning sessions. \n\nRGS has worked with more than 225 agencies throughout the state from small municipalities to larger Metropolitan Planning Organizations. We don’t have clients; we have partners who benefit from our low-cost delivery and open source access to tools created to improve the delivery of services to the public. We evolve as our partners’ needs grow, offering services and solutions to agencies. We exist for one purpose: to help our partners succeed.\n\nhttp://www.rgsjpa.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Website-and-Social-Media-Policy-1.pdf
