What Is RACQ?
With annual revenue in excess of $1.0 billion, the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland Limited (RACQ) is Queensland's largest mutual organisation, employing 2000 people Statewide across more than 50 locations. RACQ was established in 1905 as an advocate for the rights of motorists. Now, more than a century later, it assists over 1.6 million members and their families in a range of areas including motoring, insurance, finance and travel services. The most iconic of these services is roadside assistance, which operates 24/7 through a fleet of more than 700 patrol vehicles and 150 contracted service providers. RACQ is also the State's largest provider of motor insurance and second largest provider of household insurance, with more than 1.4 million policyholders throughout Queensland and northern NSW. Governments, industry, media and the general community consider RACQ the voice for motorists on a broad range of motoring and consumer issues. RACQ also plays a vital role in helping Queensland communities through several initiatives including the sponsorship of four rescue helicopter services and the RACQ Foundation. In 2012, RACQ received a prestigious Australian Business Award for its community contribution through the RACQ Foundation and its Community Response Team, established in the wake of the floods and cyclones of 2010-11. RACQ's magazine, The Road Ahead, is one of Queensland's most recognised publications, with an annual circulation of more than six million. Motoring, Insurance, Travel, Finance
