What Is Queens County Farm Museum?

Queens County Farm Museum is the largest tract of farmland in New York City and one of the longest continually farmed sites in New York State, dating back to 1697. It is a New York City Landmark and on the National Registry of Historic Places. It is an accessible site with free admission 354 days per year. Queens Farm is an important service provider to a healthy ecosystem. Its growing fields, livestock, compost site and regenerative farming methods optimize the site, making it a leader in the ecological well-being of NYC and a model for teaching and research. Queens Farm is home to the largest, single apiary in New York City and hosts a live BeeCam to feature NYC's busiest honeybees. Each year, visitors representing the diversity of New York City and beyond learn and advocate through all aspects of Queens Farm. Queens Farm has welcomed over 10 million visitors since 1975 when the cultural nonprofit that manages and interprets the site was established. Queens Farm presents a number of events, some of which have been presented for over 40 years, including the Queens County Fair, The Amazing Maize Maze, 18th Century Tavern Nights, Sheep Sharing Festival, the. Thunderbird American Indian Powwow and Harvest Weekends. Over 100,000 students visit Queens Farm through its acclaimed School to Farm education program.
