What Is Queen of the Valley Medical Center?

A Catholic non-profit, full-service diagnostic and therapeutic medical facility, Queen of the Valley Medical Center was founded in 1958 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange and is part of the St. Joseph Health System. The Queen is guided by four core values: Dignity , Service , Excellence and Justice . We live and advocate these values in every aspect of care. Leading Edge Technology - Close to Home: Since opening our doors, we have become the largest, most comprehensive health care facility in the region. Our reputation for excellence, on a par with well-known university hospitals, consistently attracts high caliber physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals. Backed by state-of-the-art facilities and leading edge technology, our outstanding medical team ensures Napa Valley residents the best care possible close to home. Committed to our Community A Commitment to Care: From the beginning, Queen of the Valley Medical Center has been committed to extending its role in the community far beyond the traditional medical model to address such public health concerns as domestic violence, medical and dental services for low-income families, prenatal care, quality child care, health education, and much more. The hospital's outreach to the underserved has blossomed due to ongoing collaboration efforts with non-profit businesses and church groups in Napa. A Commitment to Innovation: Keeping abreast of the latest medical advancements is one of our top priorities. Queen of the Valley was the first medical facility in Napa County to purchase a linear accelerator and the first to offer magnetic-resonance imaging (MRI), lithotripsy and stereotactic breast biopsy. More recently, the Queen is now the first and only facility in the area to offer robotic surgery options with the Da Vinci Surgical System. Our strong commitment to innovation helps keep us at the forefront of medicine. Most new construction and equipment purchases for the hospital are made possible by the Queen of the Valley Hospital Foundation, which employs a broad base of community support. Major gifts and planned giving raise about $1 million annually for special projects for the hospital and endowments now amount to well over $4 million. Special events that receive generous and enthusiastic community participation include the Reach for the Stars cancer survivors' brunch and fashion show, and the Day for the Queen festivities. Through their support of the Foundation, it's clear that residents of this Napa Valley are eager to participate in building a healthy tomorrow for themselves, their families and their community.
