What Is Quality Engineering?

Founded in 1982, Quality Engineering, Inc. (QEI) has provided contract Quality Control and Quality Assurance services to the power and heavy construction industries for over thirty years. QEI has well over 175 years of combined professional engineering experience in power generation and transmission, heavy civil construction, mechanical and electrical systems design and installation, heavy and light rail transit, highways and quality control testing and inspection. QEI resources include professional civil, electrical, mechanical and quality engineers and field quality control personnel. QEI is currently providing overall Program Quality Assurance Management for the Transbay Terminal Center Program, which includes construction of a new terminal on the site of the original facility and the below-grade extension of the Caltrain commuter service. The Transbay Transit Center will become the Northern Terminal for the California High Speed Rail Project. QEI is also providing QA/QC on the SBTA (HMM/URS) VTA Capital Projects Team (Light and Heavy Rail, Facilities and Highways) and the HNTB Team for Engineering Support Service to Caltrans for the BAY Bridge Seismic Retrofit. Quality Engineering is also currently providing Quality Assurance Oversight for the BART Warm Springs Extension Project, the BART SVBX Berryessa Extension, and Quality Assurance for design of the Muni Central Subway in San Francisco, Quality Assurance/Quality Control for the Oakland Airport Connector Design-Build Project, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control for the Los Angeles METRO Exposition Line Extension, Phase 2. New projects include Construction Quality Control of the $840M Central Subway Project in San Francisco, QA/QC for the $1.3B Crenshaw Light Rail Extension Project in Los Angeles, Design QA for the East Link, Shore Transit Project in Seattle and California High Speed Rail Design-Build in the Central Valley.
