What Is Powerlink Queensland?

Powerlink Queensland is a Government Owned Corporation that owns, develops, operates and maintains the high-voltage electricity transmission network in Queensland. Powerlink's primary role is to provide a safe, cost effective and reliable transmission network to transport high voltage electricity generated at large power stations to the electricity distribution networks owned by Energex, Ergon Energy and Essential Energy (northern New South Wales). Powerlink's transmission network enables the competitive electricity market as well as provides an important interconnection with New South Wales (NSW) via the Qld/NSW Interconnector (QNI) transmission line. Powerlink also transports electricity to large industrial customers such as rail companies, mines and mineral processing facilities that are directly connected to our high voltage network. Powerlink provides these electricity connection services on a non-regulated (user pays) basis. Powerlink has long-term experience in delivering large-scale complex transmission solutions, with competitive advantages in design, easement acquisition, construction and ongoing maintenance. Powerlink has completed more than 30 transmission connection services for loads and generators in the last 15 years. Transmission Network Service Provider
