What Is Post-ICU?
Post-ICU is a digital diary that provides support for anyone who encounters an Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Being admitted or having someone you love being admitted to an ICU is a traumatic experience. In more cases than not, a stay in the ICU leaves behind more difficulties than just physical ones. Both patients and their family and friends can experience symptoms of anxiety, stress and depression. These symptoms are recognized as the Post-Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS), or PICS-F for family members. The Post-ICU digital diary enables patients, family, other close relatives and ICU caregivers to write and read simultaneously in a diary. This helps to cope with the traumatic experiences, process difficult feelings, and paints a more complete picture of the ICU admission. Post-ICU is an important tool for providing high quality person-centered care and engaging families in care. Post-ICU: because aftercare should start at admission.
