Paragon Picture Gallery is a family owned company based in Albertville, Alabama whose roots go back to the drive of its founders, Wendell and Bonnie Glassco to pursue the American Dream. In 1970, they began Carousel Decors, a startup company which provided decorative accessory packages for the manufactured housing industry. These décor kits were selected to enhance the interior of homes sold by the manufacturers to retail dealers. In 1975, Carousel purchased Paragon Decors Inc., a local competitor and retained the name. During the late 1970's, Paragon's internal need for affordable pictures in the required colors and subject matter led to the company manufacturing its own framed prints. In an effort to expand the company, Paragon began exploring opportunities in the wholesale gift and furniture market, and found a niche for well designed framed pictures at affordable price points. In 1981, Paragon Picture Gallery, a new division dedicated solely to the production of framed art, was born. The second generation of the Glassco family began their involvement in the business with Lendell Glassco joining at this juncture and Malanta Glassco Knowles, currently Vice President of Marketing, and Vince Glassco, current Propac President, following a few years later. Steady growth prompted the phase out of the décor kit division in 1989 as the company chose to focus solely on wall décor. In 1991, Paragon began manufacturing high-end wall décor, which has led the way to new offerings of additional types of wall décor including mirrors, canvas transfers, oil paintings, decorative wood plaques, wrought iron and framed objects. In 2005, Paragon moved into a new 150,000 square feet state-of-the-art manufacturing facility to accommodate their continued growth and prominence in the home accessory industry. Winner of the 12th, 13th and 17th ARTS Award for excellence in wall décor, the company employs 140 team members. Paragon's diverse product line features more than 2,000 SKUs marketed through seven showroom-based manufacturer sales agencies, and three corporate showrooms, as well as independent representatives. Paragon's success can be traced to a dedication to a business philosophy that has remained unchanged throughout the years.
