Panuku Development Auckland is Auckland's urban regeneration agency, shaping spaces for Aucklanders to love. Panuku comes from a merger of two former council-controlled organisations, Waterfront Auckland and Auckland Council Properties Ltd. The intent of the new entity is to bring together the commercial property and urban redevelopment skills of both legacy organisations to provide Auckland with a clearer focus on how it responds to the challenges and opportunities of a growing region. Panuku is charged with creating residential and commercial development opportunities in urban areas across the region using council-owned land in partnership with private developers, iwi, not-for-profit organisations and central government. This more collaborative approach to addressing regional growth plus the organisation’s ability to use council-owned landholdings, will mean it can assemble and shape larger scale and more integrated development opportunities in urban brownfield locations.
