Pangaea's novel unsupervised AI algorithms are used by clinicians and scientists from industry, to improve patient outcomes by finding more patients including undiagnosed ones at scale and matching them to the right treatments, clinical trials and drug discovery studies. These algorithms achieve this by extracting symptoms and clinical characteristics (phenotypes) from doctors notes and other such textual data which are part of a patients' electronic health record (EHR). In one study, Pangaea found 300 new patients in a dataset of 52,722 EHRs and was 50x times faster and 87.5% more accurate than generic NLP and text mining approaches. Pangaea has access to more than 500 million patient records through their partnerships with hospitals and data providers from the US and Europe. The founders have received over £130 million for their research and their teams are based in London, San Francisco and Hong Kong. The company is supported by VCs and Life science executives from the US, UK and Europe.
