Orb Energy (“Orb”) is a leading provider of solar energy solutions. Orb's main activities are product design, manufacturing, sales, installation and servicing of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for reliable power, solar thermal systems for hot water, and solar street lighting. Orb serves both residential and commercial customers. Orb launched in India in October 2006 and has built a nation-wide network of branches to support customers and ensure quality of installation, and after-sales service. Approximately 125 branches have been established in India. Orb employs more than 500 personnel and is nearing 100,000 systems sold since inception. In recognition of its unique approach to the solar market, Orb was a recipient of the Zayed Future Energy Prize in 2012. Orb provides solar energy systems to both residential and commercial customers looking for a better energy alternative. Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems are ideal for offsetting grid electricity and diesel. Solar water heating systems are extremely cost effective, with 1-2 year payback for commercial and residential customers in both urban and rural areas. Orb is unique in establishing a dedicated branch network to serve local solar markets. Some branches are franchised and some are directly run, but all apply the same standard operating procedures to ensure high levels of service. In addition to the supply of solar products, Orb arranges for installation and after-sales service, and facilitates finance for its customers through banks. In parallel with its branch network, Orb has established an in-house Projects division that designs, sells, and installs systems for small to medium scale enterprises, larger corporations and a variety of institutions. Orb also exports its systems to other high potential emerging markets. Orb's holding company is in Singapore. Orb serves the India market from its headquarters in Bangalore, Karnataka, and the Africa market from Nairobi, Kenya.
