OptiMed Health Plans have been developed by United Group Programs, Inc. (UGP) to serve today's employee benefits market. UGP is a full-service employee benefits organization and Third Party Administrator (TPA) founded in 1968. Operating under its OptiMed brand name, the company offers both self-funded and fully insured products, available in most states. OptiMed partners with insurance carriers rated A- (Excellent) or better by A.M. Best. OptiMed's sales staff assists licensed health insurance brokers in providing group health coverage. With introduction in July 2020 of its OptiRater, an online platform, illustrative quotes can be generated in merely minutes. OptiRater also affords clients full transparency in that quotes can be formulated online while teleconferencing. OptiMed's digital solutions strategy has also developed secure online website portals to make health coverage more user-friendly for all stakeholders. These secure channels include one for employer group health insurance clients (referred to as members), and one for licensed health insurance brokers representing OptiMed's suite of products. Within these portals, health plans are administered, medical claims filed and followed, member information updated, online enrollment executed, and brokers can check an ongoing tabulation of commissions. OptiMed's Level-Funded Health Plans, Medical GAP, Minimum Essential Coverage, and Limited Medical Indemnity each include value-added services consisting of telemedicine, wellness, employee counseling and assistance, COBRA administration, and Section 125 POP.
