OW Bunker is a global marine fuel (bunker) company founded in Denmark in 1980 with operations in 29 countries, including the world's busiest and most important ports. We operate as a physical distributor as well as a reseller of bunker through an integrated business model. With a global market share of around 7%, OW Bunker is one of the world's largest independent bunker logistics companies. As a physical distributor, we cover most of the marine fuel value chain from sourcing fuel oil from refineries, to storage and blending through to sales and finally physical distribution by refueling vessels (barges) to ships in port and at sea. As a reseller, we manage the bunker purchasing process on behalf of the customer – choosing the most competitive offer from a physical distributor, and taking responsibility for delivery and fuel quality. As marine fuel today can account for more than two thirds of a ship's operating costs, bunker procurement has become a strategic factor for large shipping companies, who increasingly focus on distributors that operate on a global scale and can offer competitive terms and add-on services such as provision of trade credit and risk management solutions. OW Bunker, with more than 600 employees globally, operates a fleet of around 30 modern vessels, serving over 2,900 customers in around 130 countries. Apart from traditional cargo customers, including container, bulk and tankers, we also serve passenger and cruise lines and the off-shore industry. OW Bunker has since 2007 been ultimately controlled by Altor Fund II.
