What Is Northern California Regional Intelligence Center?

Per a 2006 Presidential Directive, the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center (NCRIC) serves as the regional "all crimes" intelligence fusion center for the Federal Northern District of California. The NCRIC was established by the Northern California High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (NC HIDTA) Executive Board, combining the personnel, intelligence and investigative resources of that region's Investigative Support Center (ISC) and the Northern California Regional Threat Assessment Center (NC RTAC). The NCRIC is an integral component of The National Fusion Center Enterprise and is one of 78 Department of Homeland Security-recognized fusion centers in the United States. The NCRIC helps safeguard the community by serving as a dynamic security nexus. The NCRIC disseminates intelligence and facilitates communications between federal, state and local agencies and private sector critical infrastructure partners in order to detect, prevent, investigate, and respond to criminal and terrorist activity. The NCRIC is funded through the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), the Department of Homeland Security, the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), and the Bay Area Urban Area Security Initiative (Bay Area UASI).
