New Morning is an experienced non-profit organization [501(c)3] that has provided a safety net of services to troubled youth and their families on the Western Slope of El Dorado County since 1970. Over 30 staff members provide a full range of services addressing family dysfunction. These services include the 24-hour Children’s Shelter (the only one in El Dorado County), alcohol and drug treatment for adolescents, counseling and support for pregnant and parenting teens, and counseling for high-risk youth (youth who are abused, suicidal, experiencing school failure, runaway or thrown out of their home, or engaging in delinquent behavior) New Morning’s therapists are among the highest-trained in the community, holding licenses as Marriage and Family Therapists and Licensed Clinical Social Workers. Since 2010, New Morning has provided counseling and other services to over 3,500 young people at sites throughout the Western Slope of El Dorado County. New Morning meets many rigorous quality standards, including certifications as a State of California alcohol and drug treatment provider, a Short-Doyle Mental Health Medi-Cal provider, and an Alcohol/Drug Medi-Cal provider. The Children’s Shelter falls under the purview of California Community Care Licensing and the State Foster Care Rates Bureau. New Morning takes an active role in many local, regional and national coalitions, including the Child Abuse Prevention Council, Healthy Start, the School Attendance Review Board, the California Coalition for Youth, the National Network for Youth, and the National Runaway Switchboard.
