What Is National Rugby League?

The National Rugby League is the world’s premier Rugby League competition run by the Australian Rugby League Commission. The formation of the ARL Commission saw the streamlining of the governance of Rugby League’s structures and provides a single point for all strategic direction. The NRL Telstra Premiership consisting of 16 NRL Clubs, the State of Origin Series, Holden Cup and Australian Kangaroos are coordinated through the one independent body. Also coordinated by the ARLC are the grass-roots enthusiasm of more than 625,000 regular competition participants in clubs and schools and the unbridled fun and opportunity that comes to the 630,000 each year who find Rugby League through school clinics and One Community activities. That’s over 1.25 million experiences across the Rugby League community. Chaired by former Kangaroo, Mr John Grant, the ARL Commission brings together a uniquely qualified array of business and sporting leaders who act as trustees of the game. Together they work with the Commission’s administrative executive to foster, develop, and grow the game and to provide adequate funding for Rugby League at all levels. The Commission liaises with and delegate appropriate functions to the governing bodies in the States and Territories of Australia, including the NSWRL and QRL. Sports
