What Is NEW Plastics Corp.?
N.E.W. Plastics Corp. was founded in 1968 by Irvin Vincent. The plastics industry had exploded after World War II, and demand for products was increasing. Not long after inception, Irvin began exploring the idea of recycling their plastic trimmings and industrial waste. His idea was met with resistance from many industry experts who doubted the material could be reconverted. But Irvin persevered, and in the fall of 1973 he successfully produced the industry's first recycled plastic lumber. Structures built with this product in 1976 are still going strong and looking good! For the next two decades, N.E.W. Plastics Corp. continued to develop its recycling technology while industry awareness and acceptance of recycled plastic lumber grew. RENEW Plastics was established as a separate business unit in 1986, dedicated to alternative decking systems and custom extrusions.
