Muktangan Revenue and Competitors

Currently, Muktangan primarily works in three domains: Teacher Education Programme: Our mission is Education for the Community, by the Community; where we train and employ mostly women to become teachers. These women come from the same under-served neighborhoods as our students. The teacher trainees undergo a three year intensive training and internship programme before they are inducted in our schools. Till date we have trained 690 teachers. School Programme: We provide free, inclusive and quality English medium schooling from KG to Grade 10th to over 3,300 children from the under-served community spanning 7 schools. We impart a developmentally appropriate child friendly curriculum. Our methodology of teaching promotes construction of knowledge by children themselves rather than passive rote learning. We give emphasis on individual attention: our teacher to student ratio 1:14. Ours is a holistic & inclusive program an amalgamation of basic education with IT, music, dance, drama, art, craft and sport. We even have special educators to help students with learning disabilities. Outreach Programme: Muktangan has partnered with MSCERT (Maharashtra State Council of Education Research & Training) for project ACOTE Active Constructivism Oriented Teacher Education. ACOTE is an action research project in which MSCERT and Muktangan has partnered with leading Diploma in Elementary Education Colleges in Maharashtra and work towards developing a learning organization (Teacher Education) model. We have also partnered with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences as HUB partner for the B. Voc course in Early Child Development. Since 2013, Muktangan has been working with Anganwadis & ZP schools in rural Maharashtra to improve the quality of education.
