Mount of Olives Church is a community of believers committed to ministering to the families in our church and community. Mount of Olives is a Lutheran church, founded in 1967 in Mission Viejo, CA. We are a member congregation in Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC). The mission of Mount of Olives Church is "To Know Christ and Make Him Known." This is done through worship, study, service, fellowship & outreach. Mount of Olives Church is the first and oldest church in Mission Viejo, California, and in 2017 celebrated its 50th anniversary of service to its members and the community. In 1967, land was donated by the local developers to build the church contingent upon if they would open the city’s first preschool. That was 50 years ago, and that same preschool is still growing and thriving today. Mount of Olives is committed to serving the entire family. Family ministries offer affordable and free parenting, marriage and financial courses to help people learn, grow and thrive as healthy families, the church recently built a 12,383 square-foot building dedicated to children’s ministry, nearly 20 years ago, they bought a building across the street from the campus to house the student ministry, and for 30 years the church has offered an Adult Day Program for seniors with mild cases of Alzheimer’s, dementia and other clinical conditions. Since the 1990s, praise worship services have been offered with a live band and vocalists leading worship along with a more traditional service. Over 500 people are involved in small groups and hundreds of members have attended Cursillo. Mount of Olives has worked for the last 5 decades to be the hands and feet of Christ in Orange County and around the world.
