What Is Motion Capture and Virtual Reality?

Motion Reality, Inc. was originally founded as Biomechanics, inc. in 1984. In 2001, Motion Reality, Inc. was founded and acquired all of the rights to the applications utilizing the technology developed by Biomechanics. Located near Atlanta, Georgia, Motion Reality is a pioneer in real-time 3D motion capture and immersive virtual reality simulation technologies. After more than thirty years of research and development in the areas of mechanical engineering, biomechanics, image processing, computer science, and animation, Motion Reality is recognized as a leader in motion capture, spatial engineering analysis, and 3D computer graphics animation and simulation. Using our technology, Motion Reality designs and delivers real-time, motion capture, training simulators. Our product offerings include the Motion Reality 3D Golf System and the VIRTSIM and Dauntless immersive training systems for the Law Enforcement and Military markets. DAUNTLESS, our newest simulator, was developed in partnership with Mass Virtual and is an immersive environment based on the CryEngine game engine. InDAUNTLESS, trainees are fully immersed, “head-to-toe,” in training scenarios requiring the execution of basic individual maneuvers, complex unit tactics, and mission rehearsals. They are able to train as individuals and in teams of up to twelve. Trainees have complete freedom of movement to run, jump, or crawl throughout the full volume (up to 5,000 square feet - equivalent to a basketball court), unrestricted by wires or tethers. The system allows training in a range of re-configurable environments. User-customizable scenarios can be configured within these environments to train individuals in direct action, counter-terrorism, react to contact, or other tactics, techniques and procedures based on attributes of the current operational environment. The built-in after action review tracks trainee movements and engagements.
