What Is Monochrome Workshop?

The Monochrome Workshop is an initiative designed to maximize the involvement of independent artists from around the world in the development of the Monochrome RPG, a 1920s berry punny cartoon-styled narrative adventure. The Workshop has been designed as a framework for crowdsourcing the creative assets needed for the RPG, with an eye to providing revenue sharing and contract work opportunities for those individuals who qualify as creatives under the Workshop guidelines, agree to the intellectual property provisions for Workshop participation, and participate regularly in our Workshop activities and training sessions. Revenue sharing opportunities will be provided by our partner and main equity investor, MadHat Ventures; participating institutions include the nonPareil Institute, an education and training facility that focuses on working with neurodiverse youth and providing a path to employment in technical and artistic endeavors. This effort reflects our company’s unique perspective on empathy, inclusion, and community development. We believe that the diverse range of perspectives and breadth of vision derived from Workshop contributions will enrich the Monochrome RPG, creating stronger connections among community members, their friends/relatives, and the general public. Since its launch in Fall 2019 the Workshop has grown to a 150+ member community effort with various creators contributing assets ranging from concept art to animations to music to quest designs. The Workshop is always looking for opportunities to partner with other organizations that hope to lower barriers of entry to the game development industry through virtual training.
