Microland Electronics Corporation, headquartered in San Jose, California, is a leading distributor of high-end systems, storage products, and a wide range of brand name peripherals and add-on controllers. With a branch in Dallas, Texas, Microland distributes products to resellers, VARs, and system integrators throughout the US and international market. Abraham Chen had been president and chief executive officer since Microland's inception in 1986. Envisioning rapid growth in the PC market, Abraham saw the need for peripherals and add-on products from third party manufacturers. With only seven employees in San Jose, Abraham began importing cases, power supplies, and keyboards, purchasing storage devices, and establishing key relationships with product manufacturers. This successful vision transformed into a thriving business, with two branches in California and Texas, which continues to be a standard of excellent quality and service. In early 1990, plans were made to accommodate Microland's rapid growth. Investments were well rewarded through Microland's efforts to keep down costs, enabling vendors and customers to take advantage of greatly improved inventory control, warranty support, and on-time shipping. Throughout the years, Microland has arduously and faithfully kept pace with the dynamic changes of the PC arena while striving for greater efficiency.
