Based in Sydney, Australia, the Michael Cassel Group has expanded its horizons to include international touring and Broadway productions. In association with Disney Theatrical Group, the Michael Cassel Group is producing the first international tour of the world's #1 musical, Disney's The Lion King. In celebration of the landmark show's 20th anniversary on stage, The Lion King premiered in Manila in March 2018. The tour continues to Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan, with further engagements to be announced. After a successful Australian tour of the hit musical Kinky Boots, the Michael Cassel Group produced the Broadway smash-hit Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. The show is currently touring Australia with seasons in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The production has garnered numerous accolades and been hailed by critics as A Five Star Triumph (Seven Network), A Resounding Hit (Daily Review) and More Than Entertaining: It's Genuinely Moving (The Guardian). The company's tenth anniversary tour of the celebrated Australian musical Priscilla, Queen of the Desert premiered in Melbourne in January 2018 ahead of a national tour including Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane. Theatrical legend Tony Sheldon is reprising his award-winning role of Bernadette. The Michael Cassel Group will Executive Produce and General Manage the Australian premiere of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The award-winning production will play exclusively in Melbourne from early 2019 at the Princess Theatre. The record-breaking play is produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions. In New York in 2018, the Michael Cassel Group will reunite with Tony Award®-winning director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots) on the Broadway production of Pretty Woman: The Musical, featuring original music and lyrics by Grammy® Award-winner Bryan Adams. Also in New York in 2018, the Michael Cassel Group is co-producing The Cher Show, working with respected Broadway producers Jeffrey Seller (Hamilton) and Flody Suarez (What's New Pussycat). The musical is penned by Rick Elice (Jersey Boys), with choreography by Christopher Gattelli (Newsies) and direction by Jason Moore (Avenue Q) and will open on Broadway after a short run in Chicago from June 2018. Previously, the Michael Cassel Group has produced the Australian and Asian tour of Singin In the Rain and presented Lea Salonga in Concert in partnership with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. The company exclusively represents Cameron Mackintosh in Australia. In this capacity, it produced the acclaimed new version of Les Misérables, enjoying a triumphant 19-month tour of Australia in 2014-2016 during which the production received the Helpmann Award for Best Musical. The acclaimed musical went on to tour Asia with seasons in Manila, Singapore and Dubai, where the production officially opened the Dubai Opera House.
