What Is Metropolitan Holdings?

Metropolitan Holdings was founded by Matthew R. Vekasy. After earning a degree in Landscape Architecture and Planning, Matt worked for a regional firm in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he quickly developed an affinity for urban planning and design. Always wanting to be an entrepreneur, and with his experience in urban planning, he returned to Columbus to pursue a development position with a prominent developer in Central Ohio. He believed real estate developers could better address the urban fabric through smart design and planning, so he started Metropolitan Holdings shortly thereafter. With only $1,500, he began by single handedly developing and building a small portfolio of properties that successfully adhered to these design principles. Since those early days, the company has gone on to successfully develop and build a portfolio of urban infill projects that have enjoyed financial success, all while adhering to these design principles learned early in Matt’s career.
