What Is Messerli and Kramer P.A?

Messerli & Kramer was founded in 1965 and has a long history of serving the business community in a variety of areas. From its inception our practice has included real estate, estate planning, general business, personal injury and business litigation. In the mid '70s we added a collection department and in the late '80s became a founding member of AACA (American Alliance of Creditor Attorneys; www.aacanet.com). The early '70s also marked the entrance of our attorneys into the field of government relations, representing our clients' interests before the Minnesota State Legislature and other governmental entities. As that practice thrived, we opened a second office in St. Paul. In 2000, our continued growth prompted the addition of a third location in Plymouth, where our Credit and Collections Department resides. As our practice grew, so did the services we offered our clients. In the '80s it became clear that the direction of the firm was toward serving the business community and the individuals that made those businesses a success. The firm took on the shape of a business itself through its organizational structure. Each of the attorneys who practiced in similar areas formed departments. Messerli & Kramer was at the forefront of introducing technology into the practice of law. Our collection practice was the first to go "online." Another first for Messerli & Kramer was a marketing director, almost unheard of during the '80s. We also were one of the first law firms to embrace the Bates decision allowing attorneys to advertise. The '90s brought a new philosophy. Those practicing law at Messerli & Kramer realized what a unique environment they had found at M&K and worked hard to preserve it. A growth period ensued where only those people who knew they wanted a non-traditional law firm culture were invited to join our practice. With this growth came a move from the suburbs back to downtown Minneapolis. Today our practice consists of eight departments located in three offices, practicing in a variety of areas. Our General Business and Banking; Business Litigation; Corporate Finance and Securities; Credit and Collections; Employment & Labor; Government Relations; Real Property Services and Business Succession Planning are a collection of practice areas that serve the needs of business today, tomorrow and into the next century. Our remaining departments -- Estate Planning and Probate, and Family Law provide services for the individuals who make businesses succeed. Together, we provide our clients with an opportunity to hire not just a lawyer, but a legal team.
