What Is MediSieve?

MediSieve is a London based medical device company, developing and commercialising “magnetic blood filtration”, a new therapeutic platform to revolutionise the treatment of blood-borne diseases. The MediSieve System can selectively remove harmful substances from the bloodstream by continuously circulating a patient's blood through the system, similarly to dialysis. The technology uses targeted magnetic particles, which bind specifically to the targets in the bloodstream that doctors want to remove. Our R&D is focused on malaria, leukaemia and sepsis. Recently MediSieve has received two grants from Innovate UK worth a total of £1.56m. Prior to that, the company has secured £1.75M of funding to support the continued development of (1) the MediSieve Filter and MediSieve Magnet to treat severe malaria and (2) MediSieve Particles to treat leukaemia and sepsis. A £150k grant has also been secured from the NIGH to support first in man clinical trials of the MediSieve Filter, while first clinical trials of the MediSieve Particles are expected in 2020. The company has been featured in numerous online and print media articles, including the Daily Mail, Sunday Telegraph and Wired Magazine, and been winner or finalist in several start-up competitions such as Pitch@Palace, MassChallenge, OBN Awards, TCT Magazine Awards and CMS Healthcare Startup of the Year. Recently, our founder George Frodsham was awarded BBSRC Innovator of the Year.
