What Is McIntosh Laboratory?
McIntosh Laboratory was founded by engineers Frank McIntosh, Gordon Gow, and Maurice Painchaud as the original McIntosh Engineering Laboratory. Their goal was to create the first high fidelity audio power amplifier. In 1951, the company relocated to Binghamton and was renamed McIntosh Laboratory and was later purchased by Tokyo based Clarion Shoji, Ltd. In consideration of the company's commitment to New York State, McIntosh Laboratory, Inc., is eligible to apply to Empire State Development for a $250,000 capital grant to assist the company in the renovation and new construction costs of its facility in Binghamton.
