What Is Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School?

During The Campaign for MICDS, the Tschudy family established the Harriet Baur Spoehrer Technology Fund, which significantly advances the effort to enhance and expand the teaching and learning process at MICDS through instructional technology. In recent years, this Fund has supported the purchase of laptops that are currently in use in all three divisions. These laptops, coupled with MICDS's wireless network, literally makes learning possible in every corner of campus. Gifts from the Spoehrer Fund have also supported the purchase of software as well as technology-related professional development opportunities for faculty. The Harriet Baur Spoehrer '24 Chair of Distinguished Teaching, established in 1993, is currently held by Greg Stevens, Lower School Coordinator of Instructional Technology. The funding it provides has helped support many new initiatives in the Lower School, including an interactive cafeteria bulletin board, enhanced Lower School assemblies featuring guest speakers, and the monthly Beasley Broadcast, a student-produced news show hosted by fourth graders. In addition to her lifelong dedication to her alma mater, Mrs. Tschudy also is a devoted civic volunteer whose current board affiliations include the Missouri Botanical Garden, Forest Park Forever, St. Louis Crisis Nursery and Meals on Wheels. She has been a member of the Junior League for 45 years, and previously served on the boards of St. Louis Children's Hospital, Edgewood Children's Center and St. Martha's Hall.
