What Is Macon Mayhem?

The Macon Mayhem is a minor professional hockey team. In June of 2014 they signed a five-year agreement with the Macon-Bibb Commission and will play their games at the Macon Centreplex in Macon, Georgia. The expansion team officially joined the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) on June 25, 2014 and will begin play in the 2015-16 season. The Mayhem offers affordable, family fun and entertainment to fans in Macon and the surrounding communities. The team will play 56 games in its inaugural season from October 2015 thru March 2016 with potential playoff games taking the club into April. The club, owned by Bob and Diane Kerzner, was formerly the Augusta Riverhawks, playing in the SPHL from 2010-13. The Riverhawks were forced to suspend operations after the 2013 season due to a faulty refrigeration system at the James Brown Arena in Augusta.
