MV Transportation, Inc. (MV) was founded in 1976. The MV acronym relates to California Medi-Van, the first name used by the company. In 1976, the founders of the company leased one van and started transporting disabled passengers to medical appointments using funding available from the Medicaid program in the State of California. The company continued to grow and prosper in the late 1970’s. In 1983, the company received its first public transportation contract with San Francisco Muni, operating pre-ADA advanced reservation paratransit service for the City’s elderly and disabled citizens. In order to reflect the diversification of its services, the company changed its name to MV Transportation, Inc.
