We are MIEC, an insurance company that provides medical professional liability insurance to physicians and acupuncturists in Alaska, California, Hawaii and Idaho. Headquartered in Oakland, CA, we are owned and operated for the benefit of our policyholders, which number more than 7,400. We were founded in 1975 by physicians during a time when commercial carriers withdrew from the market. Now, some 40 years later, we remain determined to provide our policyholders with low, responsible and stable premiums. MIEC will always seek to provide innovative and Cost Effective Medical Professional Liability Protection and Patient Safety Services for Physicians and Other Healthcare Professionals. This organization was created by physicians and their medical societies out of a crisis when insurance was unavailable to the medical community. We are committed to a long term philosophy of business conduct that ensures that such a crisis never happens again.
