What Is MAX Environmental Technologies?
MAX Environmental is a Pittsburgh-based environmental services company that offers hazardous and non-hazardous industrial waste transportation, treatment, disposal, analytical, environmental remediation and construction services. MAX operates two treatment, storage and disposal facilities (TSDFs) in southwestern Pennsylvania. MAX manages the largest volume of hazardous waste in the eastern United States and specializes in the treatment and disposal of Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) Dust. The company, which was established in 1957, has treated more than 1 billion gallons of liquid waste and over the past 15 years has become a leader in the treatment and disposal of hazardous soil and chrome ore processing residue (COPR) generated by government agencies and Fortune 1000 corporations. Customers include the U.S. EPA, PADEP, the Departments of Army, Navy and Energy, as well as contractors, land developers and environmental consultants. Beginning in 1996, MAX re-invested in and upgraded its operating facilities through its various capital improvement projects and a beneficial use program. Since then, all of MAX's legacy pre-RCRA landfills have been re-opened to accommodate beneficial waste material and capped up to proper grade using state-of-the-industry cap materials. In 2005, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection issued MAX Environmental a 10-year hazardous waste operating permit renewal. Shortly thereafter MAX received a new rule delisting K061 Electric Arc Furnace Dust. MAX is now positioned for a series of facility expansion projects.
