What Is MARICHAL KETIN BELGIUM?

Marichal Ketin is a Belgian company based in Liège (Sclessin) specialising in the manufacture of mold castings or centrifugal casting products (or \spin casting\; as opposed to \forging\). Founded by the engineer Jean Marichal-Ketin in 1911, it quickly specialised in rolls for the production of rolled steel. Already at that time, the company was processing colossal pieces weighing between 4 and 40 Tons. Innovation has always been part of MKB's DNA. In 1951, the company was already producing rolls made of composite materials. And in 1970, MKB innovated again by adapting its vertical rotation casting process. With this technology, the casting is deposited in a vertically installed spin casting machine driven by a motor that rotates at 650 rpm. This generates a centrifugal force of up to 150 g on the walls, so that the casting is better distributed. The end result is a more homogeneous and resistant part. Today, 140 staff members work for MKB, which has gained an international reputation. On average, MKB supplies 600 rolls per year to more than 100 steel manufacturers worldwide. MKB is supported by a sales network with agents and sales representatives in more than 20 countries. MKB is known for its innovative technical solutions. Recently, laser cladding technology has become increasingly popular, as it increases wear resistance and material properties, while also reducing the need for raw materials and thus the environmental footprint. As a result of this continuous innovation, MKB is almost always the first to introduce the latest material qualities or the most suitable processes, whether for hot strip mills, compact mills, Steckel mills, heavy plate mills or skin-pass mills.
