What Is Kellogg and Kimsey?

Kellogg & Kimsey, Inc. was founded in 1986 by Phil Kellogg and Charles Kimsey. After working as Construction Managers for regional and national firms, Phil and Charles had a strong desire early in their careers to create an outstanding general contracting firm to serve the Southwest Coast of Florida. The goal has been, and always will be, to deliver the client's desired results in a professional manner with integrity. This has been accomplished through careful recruitment and selection of employees with character, deep experience, and knowledge in their area of responsibility. David Pfeil, who has been an integral part of Kellogg & Kimsey's growth since 1989, joined Phil and Charles as a partner in 2000. From 1986 to 1993, they built a solid foundation for the company with a diverse project portfolio of shopping centers, retail, grocery stores, and multi-family projects in Southwest Florida. In 1993, they built their first location for Barnes & Noble in Brandon, Florida that led to requests to build others. Due to the quality organization that Barnes & Noble represented, Phil and Charles made the commitment to travel across the U.S. for construction of their stores. This great relationship continues 14 years later. To date, over 150 locations have been successfully constructed. Other national retailers and developers recognize and utilize Kellogg and Kimsey, Inc.'s expertise as well (see Clients). Kellogg & Kimsey has enjoyed hospitality and resort construction and have a growing book of business in this industry. Recent, current, or future projects include most of the prominent industry leaders such as IHG, Marriott, Starwood, Hilton, Wyndham, and Ritz Carlton. As with their retail work, they provide their hospitality clients' great flexibility since they have the ability to travel the U.S. with multiple projects. Multi-family, primarily townhomes and condominiums, is another major market for the owners through Kellogg & Kimsey Construction Management, Inc. Since the 1980's, they have been developing and perfecting their building process for this unique market to ensure the highest quality possible and are viewed as a premier condominium contractor on the Southwest coast of Florida. In addition to the local/regional developers that they have built for, out-of-state developers have entered the area, performed intense due diligence, and have chosen them for their important projects. They have an interest in expanding their portfolio with apartment construction. They continue to enjoy building other project types such as hotels, banks, office buildings, restaurants, and churches which gives them a well rounded portfolio of work. Locally, the new Hotel Indigo, downtown Ringling Square Office complex, the San Marco Plaza mixed use project at Lakewood Ranch, additions on both campuses for Sarasota Baptist Church, and the new golf clubhouse at the Concessions Course are excellent examples of area projects (see Project Portfolio). Kellogg & Kimsey is a mid-sized company by choice. All projects are structured so that one or more of the three owners are directly connected to the project at all times. This fosters an understanding of the client's expectations and provides continuity of communication. This approach is part of the reason they maintain strong relationships with clients project after project. Approximately 92% of Kellogg and Kimsey's projects in the last 5 years have been for repeat clients. Visit Why Choose K & K for answers to commonly asked questions that communicate our capabilities.
