KIPP Philadelphia Public Schools is a network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public charter schools that is part of a larger national network of 183 schools serving over 70,000 students across 20 states and the District of Columbia. KIPP has a track record of preparing students in underserved communities for success in college and in life. Every day, KIPP students across the nation are proving that zip code does not define destiny. Nationally, 86% of our students qualify for the Federal Meals Program, and 99% are African-American or Hispanic. Despite the fact that our students consistently enter our schools 2-3 grade levels behind, by providing a safe and structured learning environment, more time in school, and high-quality teachers, 100% of our students have been accepted to college-preparatory high schools. Here in Philadelphia, we serve 1,600 students throughout the four schools located in West and North Philadelphia neighborhoods.
