Justice Resource Institute is now one of the largest human services providers in the Commonwealth. Additionally, we are the most diverse. Today, Justice Resource Institute manages a health center and mental health clinic; street youth outreach; court and probation consultative services; residential schools for mentally ill, cognitively limited, developmentally disabled, and behaviorally challenging youngsters and comprehensive services for adult developmentally disabled. Each program is highly expert and broadly known in its field of concentration. Justice Resource Institute serves persons who come to our programs from throughout the United States. Justice Resource Institute has not pursued a strategy of following trends, but has, instead, initiated programs and developed models that have set the trends and shaped the system. Justice Resource Institute does not grow through serially developing similar programs. Instead we operate a few exemplary programs of each model. Our mission has compelled development of improved, effective, workable, and replicable models. Justice Resource Institute ventures into territory from which both public and private entities have retreated, or into which they have purposely not entered. When the challenge seems impossible, the consequence of not accepting the challenge perilous, and those requiring services are at dire risk - Justice Resource Institute is the resource of choice. For those of us who constitute the leadership and staff of Justice Resource Institute, ours is a bold and exciting adventure in advancing social justice, opportunity, and services essential to the health and welfare of individuals, families, and society. Justice Resource Institute has demonstrated that pursuit of answers to society's most severe social problems is a mission involving acceptable risk and considerable benefit, when the pursuit is serious, consistent, and skilled.
