What Is In Flight?

In Flight, Inc. is an ethical organization whose mission is to empower people with developmental disabilities to achieve their life goals and aspirations in order to lead richer, fuller lives within their communities. In Flight, Inc. provides services to individuals with developmental disabilities within Ulster, Columbia and Greene Counties of New York. The needs we address include Service Coordination, Residential Habilitation, Day Habilitation, and Respite Services and are provided for within an individual’s home or at a group home. Our goals are to promote individualized outcomes that do the following: • Maximize the development of skills and behavior necessary to be a participating member of the individual’s home and community, including consideration of lifelong planning. • Include activities relevant to the development of self and self-awareness as well as the process of developing meaningful personal relationships with individuals who are disabled and non-disabled. • Involve age appropriate activities. • Enable the individual to experience valued adult roles in the community. • Reduce dependencies. • Provide services in a setting where skills are expected to be used, based on an individual’s choices or preferences. • Improve the individual’s independence, including integration into the community. • Provide services in accordance with a participant’s “Individualized Service Plan” (ISP). • Coordinate with other appropriate community services with regard to intent and outcome through the ISP and the client’s Service Coordinator.
