What Is IEEE Sensors Council?

The IEEE Sensors Council was formally constituted in June 1998 with presidents of 14 IEEE Societies signing the petition for its formation. The fields of interest of the Council and its activities shall be the theory, design, fabrication, manufacturing and application of devices for sensing and transducing physical, chemical, and biological phenomena, with emphasis on the electronics, physics and reliability aspects of sensors and integrated sensor-actuators.\n\nFollowing are the 14 founding societies:\n\nBroadcast Technology\nCircuits and Systems\nComponents, Packaging & Manufacturing Tech\nControl Systems\nDielectrics & Electrical Insulation\nEngineering in Medicine & Biology\nIndustrial Electronics\nLasers & Electro-Optics\nMicrowave Theory & Techniques\nNuclear & Plasma Sciences\nReliability\nRobotics & Automation\nUltrasonics, Ferroelectrics & Frequency Control\nVehicular Technology.\nCurrently, there are 26 member societies of this council. Each society is represented in the Administrative Committee (AdCom) of the council through its appointed representative.
