What Is Hunter Water?

Hunter Water is a State-owned Corporation providing water and wastewater services to over half a million people in the lower Hunter region. There are around 227,700 properties connected to the water network and 215,700 to the wastewater network. Our operation span and area of 5,366km2 servicing a population of more than 560,000 within the local government areas of Cessnock, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Newcastle, Port Stephens, Dungog and small parts of Singleton. We deliver an average of 184 million litres of water per day to our customers and the community. Our water sources are Grahamstown Dam, Chichester Dam, Tomago Sandbeds, and Anna Bay Sandbeds. We collect, treat and deliver drinking water to our customers and then transport, treat and dispose of the region's wastewater. We are proud of the high standard of service we provide and our water consistently meets Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. Our vision is to be the leader in sustainable water services and utility solutions for our customers. This is achieved through the hard work of dedicated and highly capable people striving to deliver superior customer service while enhancing the environment through operational excellence.
