What Is Housing Families?

Housing Families Inc. was founded in 1986 by community members concerned about the growing crisis of homelessness among families in the cities of Everett, Malden, and Medford. Currently Housing Families primarily serves the cities of Malden, Medford, Everett, Chelsea, and Revere. 99% of families served reside in Greater Boston and the North Shore. Since 1986, the organization has grown into one of the largest operators of affordable housing for homeless and very low-income families in Massachusetts. Over 5,000 families have been helped since we first opened our doors. Housing Families works to end family homelessness in the communities we serve. We do this by providing safe, temporary shelter, creating affordable housing, and offering individualized supportive services to family members of all ages. In addition to emergency shelter, affordable housing, case management services, and eviction prevention services, Housing Families also offers a range of academic and emotional supports (tutoring and counseling) which help children improve their grades and their self esteem.
