What Is Horizon Telecom?
The Chillicothe Telephone Company is the incumbent local-exchange carrier (ILEC) serving rural Ross County, Ohio, and six adjacent counties. The company provides traditional phone services, as well as customer premise equipment (CPE), broadband Internet access, and digital TV. Originally known as The Home Telephone Company, it began operations in 1895 and the McKell family has been at the helm most of that time. A reorganization of the various divisions of The Chillicothe Telephone Company in 1996 led to the creation of the holding company Horizon Telcom, parent firm to Chillicothe Telephone.
