Hope Haven Inc., a foundation of recovery, provides life skills for chemically dependent adults and families within a supportive residential environment leading to independence. Founded in 1976, by Arietta Black and Alice Trotter, two heroic women whose path to recovery from alcohol and drugs intertwined with passion turned their vision into reality. Concerned with the lack of residential services available for alcoholic women in early recovery, they walked door-to-door collecting signatures of support for residential women's services, and then asked Lance, Inc. for a seed grant. With those funds Hope Haven leased its first home, and opened its doors to house five women. Since its earliest days, Hope Haven has responded to the needs of the community. Today, Hope Haven is still dedicated to helping people in recovery rebuild their lives by providing them with the support services needed to achieve healthy recovery and economic independence. In 2016, Hope Haven will celebrate 40 years of success in Breaking The Cycle Of Homelessness & Addiction, One Family At A Time, with over 7000 lives transformed.
