What Is High Atlas Foundation?
HAF works in different parts of Morocco to establish development projects designed and managed by local communities in partnership with government and non government agencies. HAF uses a participatory approach that includes beneficiaries as active partners in every step of the development process, from prioritizing development goals to project implementation and management, monitoring and evaluation. Key to this approach is the facilitation of community planning meetings, where beneficiaries jointly determine the projects they wish to undertake and create action plans. The method also underpins major Moroccan public initiatives promoting sustainable human development. While HAF is not a policy-oriented organization it recognizes the need for top-down support of grassroots initiatives. To this end it works to support understanding and use of the participatory approach in all levels of government and society.
