In this way, green hydrogen can now be produced on a large scale in Europe, close to customers in optimal locations, in a cost-competitive way. Energy transition requires a large-scale solution for industries requiring energy on a 24/7 basis. HH2E is that solution.InnovationThe new HH2E plants include three main components: a unit capable of accumulating large amounts of wind and solar energy; a power generation unit; and an electrolysis unit which couples a high-capacity battery with an electrolyser. This technology-mix is a game changer, as it offers the ability to produce hydrogen without a permanent power input, using only the renewable power produced during off-peak hours, when electricity is cheaper.The plan is already unfolding, set to deliver a total of 4 GW of green hydrogen production capacity. The first plant will be built as early as next year in Lubmin, Germany. Our project pipeline is in excess of €4 billion, with two world-class energy transition and infrastructure funds having committed €600 million for the construction of the first units.
