The mission of Groupement des assureurs automobiles (GAA) is to play an active role in developing the automobile insurance industry in Quebec by safeguarding consumers’ interests, in particular by guaranteeing access to auto insurance, by streamlining claims settlement and by promoting fair and equitable pricing through the publication of statistical data.\n\nHistory\n\nIn 1978, Quebec set up a new automobile insurance plan. At the time, the government asked automobile insurers to develop various mechanisms to improve the insurance plan for property damage. \n\nThis major reform gave rise to Groupement des assureurs automobiles (GAA). Since it was first created, GAA has guaranteed the liability insurance required by law, streamlined how auto claims are settled and reduced the cost of automobile insurance in Quebec.\n\nAll auto insurers doing business in Quebec are members of GAA.
