What Is Green Empowerment?
Green Empowerment - Village Solutions for Global Change. Green Empowerment, a 501(c) (3) Portland, Oregon USA - based nonprofit organization, partners with rural communities in the developing world to implement renewable energy and water systems that alleviate poverty and preserve the environment. What we do – Green Empowerment's mission is to provide villages in the developing world with clean water, electricity through renewable energy and sustainable solutions. How we do it - Our approach is different in that we emphasize local leadership, community participation, and long-term economic and environmental sustainability. Where we do it – We work with partners in Nicaragua, Ecuador, Peru, Malaysia, the Philippines, Columbia and the Thailand/Burma border. The impact - Completed projects have brought electricity to hundreds of thousands, clean water to thousands, and watershed protection of thousands of acres of forest reserve rehabilitated with untold numbers of replanted trees.
