What Is Greater Philadelphia Health Action?

GPHA provides healthcare that makes a difference to every member of your family. We are committed to providing the best healthcare for families in the Philadelphia region no matter what their economic standing. We believe the uninsured and underinsured deserve comprehensive, accessible, quality healthcare as much as those who are insured. Our health centers cater to the entire family - infants, teens, adults and seniors - with a superior medical staff that constantly strives to stay on top of new technology and techniques that will benefit our patients. We operate seven comprehensive healthcare centers, five dental centers, the 4th Street Behavioral Healthcare location, Frankford Avenue Behavioral Healthcare location, Woodland Academy Child Development Center, which offers on-site day care and our newest center;Greater Philadelphia Health Action Inc. Dental and Behavioral Healthcare. GPHA also offers the convenience of centralized medical records and onsite labs, which makes access to test results and patient history much faster. GPHA has been serving the area for over 40 years and has provided a continuum of care to generations of families. The foundation of our care is centered on the "whole" person - body and mind - and providing healthcare and behavioral care in the same convenient location. With over 85,000 patients in the Greater Philadelphia area, we make a difference by addressing issues such as infant mortality, alcohol and substance addiction, HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, low birth weight in newborns, asthma, hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, and by providing preventive healthcare and immunization services. We also show our support for the communities we serve through constant interaction in the form of health fairs, open houses and special events for our children, adults and seniors. GPHA was founded in 1970 as part of a movement to ensure that quality healthcare is consistently available in the community. Since that time, we have built a reputation as a leader in helping communities identify the health needs of their residents and developing quality medical and social services programs to address those needs. GPHA is also the largest non-hospital healthcare provider in the region, and we're growing. We take pride in our ability and willingness to serve anyone. We accept most commercial insurance plans, managed care programs, Medicare and Medicaid. GPHA is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) which means that our primary and behavioral healthcare centers operate under the safest and most quality conditions.
