What Is Gracie University?
Gracie University (GU) is the world's leading center for self-defense instruction. GU offers demographic-specific self-defense programs that teach men, women, children, and law enforcement based in the principles and techniques of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu (also known as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu). What was once a family-owned martial arts school in the South Bay has evolved into a global enterprise with over 150 certified schools, an online university with over 220,000 students, and a flourishing clothing brand. Our Torrance location serves as GU headquarters with over 1,100 local students. Owners Rener and Ryron Gracie are grandsons of Helio Gracie, the co-creator of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, and they continue his legacy as they teach the weak to defend against the strong. For both instructors and students, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is more than a martial art, it is a lifestyle. Gracie University Headquarters is a state-of-the-art facility, and offers free jiu-jitsu training and use of their private gym to all employees and instructors.
