What Is Gough Econ?

Gough Econ’s operations are headquartered in Charlotte, NC, USA. Our 40,000 square foot design and manufacturing facility is capable of handling projects of any scale. A flexible onsite demonstration center enables our customers to test their products on proposed equipment prior to recommendation to ensure the highest level of quality and reliability. By working closely with customer process engineers, technicians, and operating personnel, Gough Econ has built a strong reputation for innovation and reliability. Gough Econ’s roots are in the United Kingdom. The company was established in 1974 by George T. Gough as a subsidiary of Gough & Co (Hanley) Ltd., an engineering and manufacturing company in England. The UK company, owned by Mr. Gough, was emerging as a leader in the design and manufacture of material process and handling equipment. Mr. Gough personally developed and patented many of the innovative features that are still essential components in the company’s current product line. Initially Gough Econ served as a sales and marketing entity to introduce Gough’s leading-edge products to the USA market. Then in 1978, Gough Econ began manufacturing operations in a small facility in Belmont, NC and a few years later moved to its current location in Charlotte. In March 2004, the company was purchased from its UK parent by two long-time employees, David Risley and Don Calvert. Under their guidance and with the help of dedicated employees, Gough Econ has grown to become a world leader in the design and manufacture of integrated material handling systems. The company’s mission is simple – to make a significant contribution to the success of our customers, and to the success of our employees.
